June 2008: Barbara Bix and Olga Taylor published an article entitled "Out in the cold: When is cold calling right for your business?" by Salesopedia. Just in time for summer, Barbara and Olga offer some cool thoughts for a hot day... Is cold calling effective? What does it take to achieve success? This article outlines when cold calling works best and when cold calling can be an expensive use of your salespeople's time.
March 2008: Robert Silverman published an article entitled "Proposed patent legislation needs reform of its own," in the March 3rd issue of Mass High Tech. The article examines issues and shortcomings in the proposed Patent Reform Act.
March 2008: An abstract co-authored by Ken Spector was accepted for oral presentation at the May 2008 Digestive Disease Week (the world's largest GI meeting); their report describes a new device under development for closure of NOTES incisions. The device, developed by Aponos Medical (Denis LaBombard, Frank Patterson and Ken Spector) was tested on excised porcine stomachs at the Brigham and Womens Hospital with excellent results. February 2008: Andrew Biagioni, co-founder and president of OmniMedics Corporation, was named CEO by the Company’s Board of Directors. The company's core team remains unchanged, with founders Alan Cohen and Andrew Biagioni fully committed to the company. The Board of Directors also remains the same: Peter Murad as chairman, Alan Cohen and Andrew Biagioni as directors. In his new role Andrew Biagioni is responsible for raising the A-round funds that the Company needs to complete its market research, enhance its IP portfolio, obtain FDA approval, perform usability studies, and more. Based in Melrose, MA, OmniMedics Corporation is a medical device start-up that is developing a system for preventing deaths from sudden cardiac arrest, which kills almost 1,000 people each day in the US alone.
