Medical Software Special Interest Group (MSW SIG)

Mission

The MSW SIG Mission is to provide an opportunity for personal growth and exchange of ideas with other software professionals, and to facilitate relationships and business development opportunities in medical software by providing public forums and venues on a periodic basis throughout the year.

Vision

The Medical Software Special Interest Group is a community of software professionals committed to product quality and process excellence in the development, testing and maintenance of software that is utilized in medical devices as well as the healthcare industry in general. Additionally, business operations such as procurement, outsourcing and project management as they relate to medial software are included within this charter. The goal is to create a community of specialized professionals within the MDG umbrella that is a resource and asset to all involved.

Scope

  • Arrange meetings (four times per program year) at a convenient time and place.
  • Meetings will be open to the public with MDG members getting a fee discount in line with current MDG events.
  • Disseminate information about MDG membership and benefits as well as upcoming events in an effort to grow the larger group membership.
  • Occasionally, members may sponsor SIG meetings at their company providing meeting space and an opportunity to showcase their business to the attendees.
  • Provide a diversity of speaker topics within the general heading of medical software quality.
  • Create or sponsor training/educational venues to meet the specific needs of the community.
  • Provide knowledgeable speakers from the business and/or academic worlds.
  • Adapt the meeting content through membership surveys to ensure that the needs of the community are fulfilled.
  • Reach out to students through academic institutions who will soon enter the medical software profession.
  • Provide Industry news of general interest to the community.
